Elior at the Airbus Terminal: 20,000 orders a month, no queue
At the Terminal on the Airbus site, employees order and pay for lunch online, pick a collection slot and go straight to the counter. The kitchen gets orders spread across the whole service, instead of a rush at noon sharp.
The challenge
A staff restaurant serving thousands of meals a day, within a short lunch break. Every noon, the same queue at the tills, and a kitchen hit by a production peak between 12:00 and 12:30.
The solution
Employees order from their computer or phone, pay online and pick a collection slot. Each slot has an order cap set to the kitchen’s capacity. Tickets print in the kitchen as the slots come up, and the daily menu updates in real time.
What was put in place
- Online ordering and payment, on desktop and mobile
- Collection slots capped to the kitchen’s capacity at peak times
- Daily menu and availability updated in real time, tickets printed in the kitchen
The results
No more lunchtime queue: employees come to the counter at their chosen time. In the kitchen, production is spread across the service and the team knows exactly what to prepare, and for when.
